Alexander McQueen Editorial

This is my 2 page editorial on Alexander McQueen. I feel my editorial is my strongest piece because of my enhanced skills in Photoshop as well as my extreme interest in extravagant haute couture clothing, similar to Alexander McQueen’s work. I wrote this editorial in my own words and have created it entirely on Photoshop using images of McQueen’s vibrant garments; but still keeping the colour palette as black, white, deep red and dark blue. The pages reflect his powerful style with a mixture of unique textures, patterns, dark tones and bright colours. (Size both A3)

Final Major Project Dark Mist Mood Board

This is my mood board for my FMP theme, Dark Mist. My initial inspiration came from the film maleficent and then seeing Alexander McQueen's savage beauty exhibition gave me many design ideas. I created this mood board on Photoshop using dark and mysterious pictures that relate to my theme. I feathered all of my images on a dark woodland background and then adjusted the colours using the hue and saturation tool, to make my mood board dark purple, as that is the colour I wish to make my collection. Final Major Project Dark Mist Design Board

For my FMP I created this design board showing the three garments I wish to make for my collection. Firstly I scanned in the outline of my three final designs and edited them on Photoshop using the paint tool. After filling in the colour and strengthening the outline I added textured images into sections of my designs to show more detail and the lace patterns in the fabric. Finally I included a mysterious, purple woodland image to the background of my designs, linking it further to my mood board. (Size A3)

Northern Soul Mood Board

For my personal project I created a mood board based around the music and dance movement known as northern soul. I regularly go to soul nights and have always been influenced by the vintage clothing, which inspired me to design my own. On Photoshop I used a range of black and white images capturing the liveliness and energy seen at northern soul nights. I merged my images closely together to create one full image with fascinating detail. I added a hint of teal colour to the board giving it some vibrancy, so I can express more colour in my designs. Northern Soul Design Board

From the inspiration of my mood board and various soul nights I attend, I created unique designs on Photoshop capturing the 60s and 70s soul scene in four vibrant outfits. I chose this bright colour scheme of turquoise, purple, orange and brown to show off the outrageous colours from the 70s but still keeping the designs modern. I have put my own twist on northern soul classics like the full length circular skirt, the high-waisted mini skirt, the 70s flared trousers, the collared dresses and shirts with the classic polo top. Samurai Warrior Mood Board

In my first year at college we were given a sustainability project to create a garment and accessory out of only recycled products, with the theme of warriors. My DIY mood board reflects all the different styles of warriors relating to Samurai, as this is my chosen pathway. Many of the images I have chosen to use show Japanese and Chinese armour worn throughout history; other images are taken from fashion shows that I feel look similar in style to the samurai clothing. I layered these images on Photoshop and feathered around each one, fusing them together. (Size A3)
